TAKE THE CAKE
CHALLENGE:
For this project we had to design a logo, a vanilla cake package design template, a chocolate fudge package design, chocolate chip packaging, sprinkles, and icing packaging for the fictitious name "Take the Cake". We had to come up with a branding style direction, colour and texture selection, sourcing royalty free imagery, and ensure all the proper typography was placed in the appropriate places.
SOLUTION:
I went with a modern sans serif font for the logo, using a lighter colour for the words "TAKE THE", and a darker tone of the same colour for the word "CAKE" directly below, spanning across the words above to place the emphasis on the word "CAKE". I illustrated a fork using the lighter colour below the word cake, overlapping above the letter "E". The logo colours change based on what packaging it is being used for. For example, I chose blues for the vanilla cake mix packaging, and a rich and decadent purple for the Chocolate Fudge Brownie mix, and the chocolate chips.
