BRANDING
CHALLENGE:
For this typography project, I had to create branding for a Kombucha company. I had to come up with a suitable name for the company, a simple logo design, a takeaway brochure with a variety of flavours, an advertisement poster for the product, and mockups, using our own illustrations for the product.
SOLUTION:
Through extensive brainstorming, research, and a mood board, I came up with the name Panacea KOMBUCHA. Panacea means a cure for all ills, or cure-all, which is suitable for Kombucha because it aids in digestion and many illnesses stem from the digestive track and not being able to break food down properly, causing a host of illnesses to form in the human body.
For the product ingredient spread I had 6 products/ ingredients, using a bit of white space on the left under BEST SELLER BREWS title, framing the top in a green and the bottom in a yellow that is also on the cover and back of the brochure. I placed the illustrations to the bottom right of each brew. The spill texture is at the bottom left and right of the pages, with a hint of yellow near the banana and lemon flavours.
LOGO DESIGN:
I used a black serif font in italic for panacea in all lower case, and black all upper case black serif font for KOMBUCHA, with three green tea leaves all grouped together at the bottom for the logo design, keeping it simple and using a serif font to establish trust in the company and product.

BROCHURE COVER & BACK:
I used the wine and tea textured watercolour for the organic background with the logo strategically placed in the middle in the white space on the cover. The website is in bold sans serif on the back. The top and bottom have a band of green on top and organic, brownish yellow on the bottom to frame the work with the brand colours.

MISSION STATEMENT:
For the mission statement in the brochure I used a sketch of a kombucha jar with a cover and placed it over top of a spill texture to give an organic feel on the left page with a softness to the off white texture across both pages. On the right is a brief two paragraph statement of the benefits of their product. I used the same green rectangle spanned across the two pages and a yellow one on the bottom for both the front and back that is on the cover to create unity in the two designs with the brand colours.
I used sketches of a variety of the berries, fruit, and spice combinations I used for the flavoured ingredients, which I then traced over in fine tip marker before bringing them into Adobe Photoshop to turn into transparent vectors to give a more organic appeal to the illustrations. I also used tea and wine spilled on watercolour paper for the background texture of the poster advertisement and also in the brochure background texture. For the typography in the branding I chose to have a serif font for the titles and a sans serif for the body copy. Again, using the titles to impress upon the viewer that this company is serious and trustworthy.
